Portraits
Portraits have various functions; beyond the will and desire to perpetuate a person’s memory and the will to create a historical image of someone, the portrait often has an immediate representational function. It expresses the desire for ubiquity, in political and religious use.
Using various techniques, such as pastel, acrylic, oil and dry brush, Mihai Nistor transposes an amalgam of vibrant colors onto the canvas, giving each portrait a life of its own. Every detail, from the man’s beard to the delicate folds of a woman’s hat, is rendered with remarkable skill, capturing the viewer’s attention and conveying a distinct story.
